You can always tell that I (Ted) manage the website -- because it'll include statements like "Go Yankees!" which Amy just can't abide. Other such phrases include, but are not limited to: "Amy likes Rod Stewart" (she refuses to admit it, but she does) and "Amy is shorter than Ted" (she is, really).
Anyway, where was I?
Ah, yes. The Yankees. Saturday night, Matt and Jen invited us over to their place to watch the Yankees v. Twins game 4. It was not only a good time to hang out with someone other than the two of us and watch TV -- it was nice to see a baseball game. Matt's a Yankees fan from Back in the Day (from Michigan, no less) and like any true Yankees fan enjoys their winning record lately as payoff of the dry years between Reggie Jackson in the outfield and Joe Torre as manager.
I particularly enjoyed the game because it included enough mistakes to keep the game interesting and true to form -- the Yankees just don't give up a ball game until the bitter end. The 11th inning win -- from set up by a base stolen by A-Rod was a great way for me (and Matt) to end the evening. I think Jen's apathetic and Amy, as a die-hard Mariners fan, was hoping the Twins would take it -- except when John Olerud was up.
Not much word on the VP and the second Presidential debate on this side of the pond. It gets passing news, but with the local news being aflutter with Tony and Iraq and other items, there really isn't much time for them to spare on a news story that's really only super relevant to the ex-pat population.
Sunday, Amy and I spent the day lounging in bed or playin' on the computer and recovering from staying up 'til 2:30AM watching baseball.
Our backyard is a veritable jungle... I keep meaning to mow the lawn and I just keep getting flummoxed by rain or held back by the inertia of the task before me. One day, maybe, I'll get around to it. In the mean time, you can see little paths where Pippin wanders about when he's outside, it's very "Pippin of the Serengeti".
As always, it's taken me enough time to write this that I've nudged into my lunch time. So, I'm off to find sustenance.
